What is Chardham Yatra? | Travelling Mantra

Char Dham Yatra is a tradition that has been going on in Sanatan Dharma since ancient time, in which four major pilgrimage sites located in the state of Uttarakhand , Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are visited. Devotees from all over the country and abroad take part in this yatra with great enthusiasm. They reach Haridwar from where the journey start via Rishikesh. Due to the importance of this journey, Uttarakhand is also called the land of Gods. Historians say that the importance of this journey has been going on since Mahabharata period when the five sons of Maharaja Pandu visited these pilgrimage sites during his period of exile after the Mahabharata war.
